How to find a washing machine model number
Where to look before searching for a washer manual, error code or recall.
Start with the rating label
The model number printed on the appliance is the authority. Marketing names, store listings and receipt descriptions are useful clues, but they can point to a nearby variant instead of the exact machine.
Check common label locations
For washers, look around the lid or door opening, on the rear panel, behind the control panel area, or near the frame visible when the lid or door is open. If a recall asks for a serial number, do not rely on the model number alone.
Keep suffixes
Letters after a slash, regional suffixes and color suffixes can matter. Search the full value first, then try a normalized version without spaces or hyphens only if the full reference fails.
